If you are like me and you generally run on what normal people think is “overdrive” you probably need to take some time out. I recently took a long weekend away to unwind and guess what? It was blissful! I felt rejuvenated and relaxed. Sometimes, even for the most energetic amongst us we need to take it down a gear or two and let our adrenal glands recover. Your adrenal glands help you respond to stress. If you are a person that is constantly rushing or you have chronic stress, your adrenals get fried, and it becomes increasingly difficult to manage your life, leading to feelings of burnout and loss of energy.
In the spirit of finding more balance in my life I booked a farm stay. I found a fantastic little place called Back 2 Earth set on a 5 acre property surrounded by green hills and gorgeous local beaches. This little haven of tranquillity is approximately 2 hours from Sydney and is only a 5 minute drive to the beautiful town of Berry.
When I first found them on Instagram I was lured to find out more by their phenomenal food photography. As I researched more into what the owners Marc and Jenny where all about I couldn’t be more impressed. Their principals of sustainability, environmental awareness, zero waste policy and self-sufficiency are obvious in their incredible organic fruit and vegetable gardens. I was even more excited to see so many cute farm animals that were rescued and are now enjoying a safe, peaceful, forever home.
While staying on the property we felt totally relaxed and welcomed by Marc, Jenny and their two adorable dogs. We received a welcome basket of organic home grown fruit, vegies and Marc’s delightful cashew “feta cheese”. The meals that we had at Back 2 Earth were raw vegan, organic and mostly home grown.
Not only did we get to have absolutely delicious food, but the view at Dinner of the green mountains was perfect. Each meal was presented immaculately to dazzle both our eyes and taste buds.
Marinated Vegetable Tasting Plate
Marinated eggplant stuffed with cashew cheese, olives and mushrooms was a taste sensation.
Vegan Raw Nacho Bowl
Filled with delicious vegies and cashew sour cream I never want to have another nacho bowl again.
Vegan Meringue
I finally got to taste a vegan meringue made from aqua faba “chickpea liquid”. Wow! I couldn’t believe that meringue could be made out of the humble little chick pea
Homemade Tomato Wraps with Satay Sauce
This little wraps are a flavour bomb of home grown vegies and the satay sauce was to die for.
Raw Vegan Stir Fry with Cauliflower Rice
I have made cauliflower rice at home and it was…..well pretty boring. Marc absolutely nailed this one and was more than happy to share some tips with me about how I can make mine next time.
Dessert Tasting Plate
This little plate of heavenly goodies had mini cashew cheesecakes and delicious chocolate goodies.
Breakfast Pizzas
Made on a base of activated buckwheat, flaxseed, goji berries, almonds, sunflower seeds. Topped with Greek cashew yoghurt and chocolate cashew yoghurt. These are a fruit lovers paradise!
We not only spent our time eating fantastic food but we got to meet all the gorgeous little rescue animals. Daily feeding sessions where a great way to connect with nature and I really believe that animals help to reduce stress and anxiety.
If you need a little time away make sure you prioritise you health and find a lovely quiet place that will nature your body and soul.
